ANewMail v1.0 is a lightweight messaging component suitable for
integrating new email message arrival notification to your applications.
The component provides unique entry id of the newly arrived message
to the caller application that in turn can be directly used to gather
other properties of the message.
ANewMail component works with all Outlook versions. Outlook 98 object model doesn't provide any new mail notification. Outlook 2000 model does have newmail notification support but it is useful only to know that a message has arrived in the system. It doesn't provide any information to uniquely identify the arrived message. ANewMail component solves this problem by providing the entry id of the arrived message. ANewMail component works in both Corporate/Workgroup (CW) mode and Internet Mail Only (IMO) mode. A demo mail notification application with VB source code is available that demonstrates the usage of ANewMail. Any container that supports COM (Visual Basic, VBScript or Visual C++) can use this component. DemoMailNotifier sample project uses Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) and Outlook object model. For installing CDO along with Outlook, do the following steps:
1. Run Office setup.
2. Click on Add/Remove Features button.
3. In the tree view, expand "Microsoft Outlook for Windows".
4. Click on icon next to "Collaboration Data Objects" and
select "Run from My Computer".
5. Click on "Update Now" button. This will complete the CDO
installation process.
